Charles Robert Redford Jr. was born 18 August 1936 in Santa Monica, California; United States of America. Robert is most noted for his roles of Bob Woodward in All The President's Men, The Sundance Kid in Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid with Paul Newman, then again with Newman in The Sting as Johnny Hooker, as the titular characters in Jeremiah Johnson and Brubaker, Martin Bishop in Sneakers, Out of Africa as Denys, The Natural as Ray Hobbs, Three Days of the Condor as Joseph Turner, John Gage in Indecent Proposal, Warren Justice in Up Close & Personal, Nathan Muir in Tony Scott's spy thriller Spy Game, and most recently in J. C. Chandor's All Is Lost, and the Russo Brothers super hero flick Captain America The Winter Soldier as S*H*I*E*L*D* Director Alexander Pierce starring Chris Evans. Robert is also a talented director with such films as The Horse Whisperer, Quiz Show, A River Runs Through It, The Milagro Beanfield War, The Company You Keep, Lions for Lambs, The Legend of Bagger Vance, and Ordinary People for which Robert received his first Academy Award. Robert established The Sundance Institute for independent filmmakers to hone their craft and release their films. Robert is also an environmentalist and conservationist. Robert is married to German artist Sibylle Szaggars, and has four children Shauna, James, Amy, and Scott who died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome with first wife Lola Van Wagenen.
